Description

The Tequila Sour is a fantastic and often underrated alternative to the Margarita. While the Margarita uses triple sec for sweetness and orange flavor, the Tequila Sour relies on agave syrup, which enhances the natural flavors of the tequila even better. The optional addition of egg white, just like in a Whiskey Sour, gives the drink a velvety, creamy texture and a stable foam head that can be decorated with a few drops of bitters.

Preparation

  1. Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker.
  2. Optional (for egg white version): Perform a "Dry Shake" without ice for 15 seconds.
  3. Fill the shaker with ice and shake vigorously again ("Wet Shake").
  4. Fill a tumbler glass with a large, fresh ice cube.
  5. Strain the contents of the shaker through a fine sieve into the prepared glass.
  6. Garnish with a lime slice and optionally a few drops of Angostura bitters on the foam.
