Description

The Bicicletta (Italian for "bicycle") is a classic and uncomplicated aperitif, particularly popular in northern Italy. The name is said to come from the fact that elderly gentlemen tend to swerve a bit when riding their bikes home after a few of these drinks. The cocktail is very similar to the Americano, but it replaces the sweet vermouth with dry white wine. The result is an even drier, more tart, and incredibly refreshing drink, perfect for stimulating the appetite on a warm day.

Preparation

  1. Fill a wine glass with ice cubes.
  2. Pour the Campari and dry white wine into the glass.
  3. Top up with a splash of soda water.
  4. Stir gently and garnish with an orange slice.
