Description

The Yellow Bird is a classic Tiki cocktail whose exact origin is disputed, but it is firmly associated with Caribbean bar culture. Its name and vibrant yellow color come from the Haitian song "Yellow Bird." The drink is a complex blend of the sweetness of white rum, the herbal and vanilla notes of Galliano, and the orange notes of triple sec. Fresh lime juice provides the necessary balancing acidity. A cheerful, tropical cocktail.

Preparation

  1. Fill a martini glass with ice to pre-chill it.
  2. Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
  3. Shake vigorously until the shaker is ice-cold.
  4. Discard the ice from the glass.
  5. Strain the contents of the shaker through a fine sieve into the chilled glass.
  6. Garnish with an orange slice and a cocktail cherry.
