Description
The White Lady is a classic sour cocktail known for its elegant appearance and crisp, fresh taste. It became popular in the 1920s and is essentially a Sidecar where the brandy is replaced with gin. The combination of the botanical notes of gin, the orange sweetness of triple sec, and the bright acidity of lemon is perfectly balanced. The optional addition of egg white gives the drink a velvety texture and a beautiful white foam head that underscores its name.
Preparation
- Pre-chill a coupe glass with ice.
- Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker.
- If using egg white, first perform a "Dry Shake" (without ice) for 15 seconds.
- Fill the shaker with ice and shake again vigorously ("Wet Shake").
- Strain the contents through a fine sieve into the chilled glass.
- Garnish with a lemon peel.
