Description

The Whisky Flip is a historic cocktail belonging to the "flip" family—drinks made with a whole egg. This method was popular as early as the 17th century and gives the cocktail an incredibly rich, creamy, and velvety texture. The drink is essentially a simple mixture of whiskey, sugar, and egg. The result is a nutritious and delicious after-dinner drink, reminiscent of eggnog but significantly more elegant. The freshly grated nutmeg garnish is essential as it contributes a warm, spicy aroma.

Preparation

  1. Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker.
  2. First, perform a "Dry Shake" (without ice) for at least 20 seconds to perfectly emulsify the egg.
  3. Fill the shaker with ice and shake again very vigorously ("Wet Shake") until it is ice-cold.
  4. Strain the contents through a fine sieve into a pre-chilled coupe glass.
  5. Grate a pinch of fresh nutmeg over the surface.
