Description

The Swimming Pool is a German cocktail classic, invented in 1979 by the bar legend Charles Schumann in Munich. With its sky-blue color and creamy-sweet taste, it quickly became a symbol of the 1980s. The drink is a rich blend of vodka and rum, complemented by the tropical flavors of pineapple and cream of coconut. The Blue Curaçao is "floated" on top at the end, giving it its characteristic appearance reminiscent of a swimming pool.

Preparation

  1. Add all ingredients except the Blue Curaçao to a blender.
  2. Add a good handful of crushed ice and blend well until a creamy consistency is achieved.
  3. Pour the contents into a large fancy glass or Hurricane glass.
  4. Gently float the Blue Curaçao over the back of a spoon onto the surface of the drink.
  5. Garnish with a fresh piece of pineapple.
