Description

The Southside is a classic Prohibition-era cocktail often described as the "Gin Mojito." Its exact origin is disputed—both Chicago and New York lay claim to its invention. The drink is essentially a Gin Sour that gains a wonderful, cooling, and aromatic complexity from the addition of fresh mint. It is incredibly refreshing and the perfect bridge for those who love both Gimlets and Mojitos.

Preparation

  1. Pre-chill a coupe glass with ice.
  2. Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
  3. Shake vigorously until the shaker is ice-cold.
  4. Strain the contents through a fine sieve into the chilled glass.
  5. Slap a fresh mint leaf between your palms to release the aromas and place it on top of the drink.
