Description

The Matcha Mule is a modern, non-alcoholic interpretation of the classic Moscow Mule. Instead of vodka, high-quality matcha tea provides complexity and an invigorating effect. The earthy, slightly bitter notes of the green tea create a fascinating contrast to the sharp spice of the ginger beer. Lime juice provides the classic Mule freshness. It is a stimulating and flavorfully complex drink that proves how exciting non-alcoholic cocktails can be.

Preparation

  1. Put the matcha powder in a small bowl and pour the hot (not boiling) water over it. Whisk with a bamboo whisk (chasen) or a small whisk until smooth.
  2. Add the matcha tea, lime juice, and agave syrup to a shaker filled with ice.
  3. Shake vigorously.
  4. Strain the contents into a copper mug or highball glass filled with crushed ice.
  5. Slowly top up with ginger beer.
  6. Stir gently and garnish with a mint sprig and a lime wedge.
