Description
The Gin Alexander is the original version of the famous Alexander cocktail, which is often mistakenly associated only with brandy today. Created around 1915, this drink was one of the first creamy cocktails and a pioneer for countless dessert drinks. The botanical complexity of the gin provides a wonderful counterpoint to the sweet chocolate notes of the crème de cacao and the richness of the cream. The result is a surprisingly balanced, luxurious, and timeless classic.
Preparation
- Fill a coupe glass with ice to pre-chill it.
- Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker filled with ice cubes.
- Shake vigorously for about 15 seconds until the shaker is ice-cold on the outside.
- Discard the ice from the glass.
- Strain the contents of the shaker through a fine sieve into the chilled glass.
- Grate a pinch of fresh nutmeg over the surface.
