Description
The French 75 is a cocktail that exudes pure elegance and celebration. It was created around 1915 at the "New York Bar" in Paris and was named after the French 75mm field gun, as its effect was considered just as potent. The drink is essentially a Tom Collins where the soda water is replaced with Champagne. This refinement makes it a sparkling, refreshing, yet potent cocktail, perfect for special occasions like New Year's, weddings, or simply a luxurious brunch.
Preparation
- Add gin, lemon juice, and simple syrup to a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
- Shake vigorously until the shaker is ice-cold.
- Strain the contents into a chilled champagne flute.
- Gently top up with well-chilled Champagne.
- Stir very gently, if necessary.
- Garnish with a long, elegant lemon spiral.
