Description

The Dry Martini is arguably the epitome of a cocktail—minimalist, elegant, and incredibly potent. Its exact origin is debated, but its popularity has been unwavering for over a century. The beauty of the drink lies in its simplicity, which nevertheless demands the utmost precision in preparation. It's all about perfectly chilling a high-quality gin and enhancing it with just a whisper of dry vermouth. Whether shaken or stirred, with an olive or a lemon twist, the Dry Martini is a statement.

Preparation

  1. Fill a martini glass to the brim with ice to chill it optimally.
  2. Also, fill a mixing glass with ice cubes.
  3. Pour the dry vermouth into the mixing glass, stir briefly to coat the ice, then discard the excess vermouth.
  4. Add the gin and stir until very cold, for at least 30 seconds.
  5. Discard the ice from the martini glass.
  6. Strain the contents of the mixing glass through a bar strainer into the ice-cold glass.
  7. Squeeze a lemon peel over the drink to release its oils and drop it into the glass. Alternatively, add a green olive.
