Description
The Cosmopolitan, often simply called "Cosmo," is the prime example of a modern cocktail that achieved worldwide fame in the 1990s through the TV series "Sex and the City." Although its exact origin is disputed, the creation is often attributed to New York bartender Toby Cecchini, who perfected the drink in the late '80s with vodka, Cointreau, lime, and cranberry juice. Its bright pink color, slightly tart taste, and elegant martini glass made it the ultimate symbol of urban elegance and glamour. Today, the Cosmo is a staple on every cocktail menu and a must-have for anyone who loves a fruity yet elegant drink.
Preparation
- Fill a shaker with ice.
- Add all ingredients (Vodka Citron, Cointreau, cranberry juice, and lime juice).
- Shake vigorously until the shaker becomes frosted on the outside and is very cold.
- Strain the drink through a sieve into a pre-chilled martini glass.
- Squeeze an orange zest over the glass to release the essential oils, and add it as a garnish.
