Description
The Caipiroska is the direct relative of the famous Caipirinha. The only, but crucial, difference is the base spirit: instead of the Brazilian cachaça, the more neutral vodka is used. The result is a drink that tastes a bit "cleaner" and less rustic, but retains the same intense freshness from muddled limes and cane sugar. For anyone who finds the distinct taste of cachaça too strong, the Caipiroska is the perfect alternative.
Preparation
- Wash a lime thoroughly, cut off the ends, and cut the lime into eighths.
- Place the lime wedges and the white cane sugar into a sturdy tumbler glass.
- Using a wooden muddler, firmly press and twist in the glass to extract the juice and oils from the peel.
- Fill the glass to the brim with crushed ice or small ice cubes.
- Pour the vodka over the ice.
- Stir briefly but thoroughly to chill and mix everything.
- Garnish with a lime wedge.
