Description

The Bronx is a classic cocktail often described as a "Perfect Martini with orange juice." It was created in the early 20th century in New York and was one of the first cocktails to use fresh fruit juice, which was an innovation at the time. The drink combines the complexity of gin with the sweetness of red vermouth and the dryness of white vermouth. A splash of orange juice adds a fruity note and an appealing color. It is an elegant and sophisticated drink with a long history.

Preparation

  1. Pre-chill a martini glass or a coupe with ice.
  2. Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
  3. Shake vigorously until the shaker is ice-cold.
  4. Discard the ice from the glass.
  5. Strain the contents of the shaker through a fine sieve into the chilled glass.
  6. Express an orange peel over the drink and drop it into the glass as a garnish.
