Description
The Boulevardier is the answer for those who love the Negroni but prefer whiskey. Created in the 1920s in Paris for Erskine Gwynne, the editor of the magazine "Boulevardier," this drink simply swaps the Negroni's gin for bourbon or rye whiskey. The result is a richer, warmer, and often considered more approachable cocktail. The sweet vanilla and caramel notes of the whiskey provide a wonderful counterpoint to the bitterness of the Campari and the herbal notes of the vermouth. A perfect drink for cooler evenings.
Preparation
- Pre-chill a coupe glass or a tumbler with ice.
- Add all ingredients to a mixing glass filled with ice.
- Stir until well-chilled (about 20-30 seconds).
- Strain the contents into the chilled glass (with or without fresh ice, depending on preference).
- Express an orange peel over the drink and add it as a garnish.
