Description

The Balalaika is a classic sour cocktail with Russian roots, named after the traditional stringed instrument. It is essentially a "White Lady" cocktail where the gin is replaced with vodka. This small change shifts the focus from the botanical notes of gin to the clean, clear spirit of vodka. The combination with the sweet orange aroma of Cointreau and the bright acidity of lemon results in a crisp, clean, and very refreshing drink.

Preparation

  1. Pre-chill a coupe glass with ice.
  2. Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
  3. Shake vigorously until the shaker is ice-cold.
  4. Strain the contents through a fine sieve into the chilled glass.
  5. Garnish with a lemon peel.
