Description
The Mimosa is the epitome of the brunch cocktail. Named after the vibrant yellow mimosa flower, the drink was invented around 1925 at the Hôtel Ritz in Paris. Its captivating simplicity of equal parts chilled sparkling wine and freshly squeezed orange juice makes it the perfect companion for any festive morning. It is light, bubbly, and wonderfully refreshing. The quality of the ingredients is key to the best Mimosa: a good dry sparkling wine and freshly squeezed, well-chilled juice.
Preparation
- Ensure both the sparkling wine and the orange juice are very well chilled.
- Hold a champagne flute at an angle and pour in the sparkling wine first.
- Slowly top up the glass with the orange juice.
- Do not stir, to preserve the carbonation. The liquids will mix on their own.
- Optionally, garnish with a thin orange peel.
