Description

The Fitzgerald is a modern classic created by the legendary bartender Dale DeGroff. It is essentially a classic Gin Sour that gets a decisive twist from the addition of a few dashes of Angostura bitters. The bitters give the otherwise simple drink a wonderful aromatic complexity and a spicy depth that harmonizes perfectly with the juniper notes of the gin and the acidity of the lemon. The Fitzgerald is proof of how a small change can turn a good drink into a great one.

Preparation

  1. Pre-chill a coupe glass with ice.
  2. Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
  3. Shake vigorously until the shaker is ice-cold.
  4. Strain the contents through a fine sieve into the chilled glass.
  5. Express a lemon peel over the drink and add it as a garnish.
